Amanda "Milly"
Dowler (13)
From Walton on Thames, Surrey
Murdered March 2002
On
21 March 2002 Amanda Dowler was last seen
walking home from the railway station at nearby Walton-on-Thames train station.
She stopped at a chip shop with some friends, called her father on the 'phone
then set off for home - she never got there.
Milly had a Nokia 32/100 Mobile Phone with Milly written on the back, a White Purse with an Ace of Hearts motif and Bank card with her and was wearing a Silver Neck Chain with various Silver Rings. She was last seen wearing her School Uniform which was a Dark Blue Blazer, Light Blue V Neck Jumper, White Shirt and a Short Grey Skirt.
At 2 pm on Thursday
19th September human remains were found in Yateley Heath Forest, near Fleet
in Hampshire.
Milly's
parents were informed of the discovery, but, police at first said it was too
early to say if the remains were those of Milly, but later confirmed the distressing
news.
Nobody has been convicted of Milly's murder.
In
March 2005 police began investigating possible links with the London Hammer
Attacks, including the murders of Marsha McDonnell
and Amelie Delagrange. Speaking personally,
I am dubious of this. Officers investigating the abduction of Milly announced
details of a potential breakthrough. It centres on a red N-registered Daewoo
Nexia seen yards from where Milly was last seen leaving the town's railway
station. Police believe the Daewoo Nexia may have been used in the abduction
of the teenager. They suspect the car may have been driven by someone with
connections with Walton-on-Thames at the time of the murder. The 1996 vehicle
was filmed at 4.33 pm, 25 minutes after Milly was last seen. The car appeared
to be sitting low on its rear wheels.
